Devon Beach Wedding Photos

Iain and Elizabeth like so many other couples had hoped for a “normal” wedding. In fact, their Maid of Honour – Hollie; had helped them with the planning and Elizabeth even had another dress! In current times, large, big white weddings are not an option but this doesn’t mean that you can’t have a great wedding with your nearest and dearest. Going to Plan B; this lovely couple scaled down their wedding, got married in Exeter Registry Office and hired me to shoot their Devon beach wedding photos on Sidmouth Beach. I was excited as I knew that the orange cliffs are a great backdrop for photos. In fact, the last time I shot here was with BEN & EDITA LAST YEAR. Take a look!
Late September Sunshine
It was a lovely sunny Saturday, so I made sure to pack my diffuser – this is an absolute godsend in the event of any direct sunlight that can create harsh shadows on people’s faces. In the end, I didn’t need it, as there was a nice thin layer of cloud! This helped us a lot! My partner Sophie joined me for this shoot and she can also be hired as a second photographer.
It Took How Long?!
As this was a very small wedding with just a few close friends and family, one of the benefits of this was that I was able to spend more time alone with just the Bride and Groom. This meant that Elizabeth and Iain got a lot more photos of just the two of them than they would have; had this wedding been a much larger party. It also meant that we were able to capture multiple photos of all guests and in a variety of focal lengths; which really helps enhance a wedding album. If I told you that this entire wedding was shot in just two hours, would you believe me?!
If you’re thinking of going ahead with a smaller, more intimate wedding due to the pandemic, I’d love to hear from you! So much more time alone as a wedding couple is possible as of this! – SO PLEASE DROP ME A MESSAGE HERE!
