Wedding Photography – Chateau De Robernier
This was my first solo trip abroad with wedding photography, and I was headed to the south of France. This wedding was something that was a long time in the making for many. Sarah & Romain booked me in 2019 for this, Sarah was a bridesmaid at another wedding I photographed. She approached me and said, “if we like the photos we will book for our wedding in France”. There was a huge smile on my face. Unfortunately, as we all know, we were hit by the pandemic. This moved the wedding to 2022.
Sarah & Romain’s wedding venue of choice was to be CHATEAU DE ROBERNIER, and what a stunning place it is. At the time when they booked me, I was still new to wedding photography, and I didn’t have my camper van. So this trip for me turned into an adventure. Getting a ferry from Portsmouth to Caen I had an epic drive ahead of me. From the ferry port in Caen, it was 973 miles to the venue, situated an hour and a half from Nice. It took me two and half days to get there driving at 53mph in a thirty-nine-year-old camper van. In the words of Sarah before leaving, YOLO!
Arriving at the venue the day before was a massive buzz, my van didn’t overheat ( during a heat wave ) and all was good. I felt a huge achievement already. Upon arriving that afternoon we all chilled in the swimming pool and it was a great chance to meet people from the U.K and France. The ceremony on the day wasn’t until 3 pm, as it was so hot, and we wanted shade for the guests. I had never felt heat like it, 41 degrees in the shade!
Now as you can see from my photos, string lights. The reception part of the day was like id never experienced. To be abroad in the warm, shooting a wedding under those lights was like a pinnacle moment. Congrats Sarah & Romain!
