Lockdown Doorstep Couple Photoshoot with Emily & Andrew
During the lockdown period, taking photos has been very difficult for me, and many other photographers. All wedding photography is on hold, and we are also restricted to staying locally. With the recent relaxation of rules, I was able to take photos of people from a safe distance. I thought id love to try a lockdown doorstep couple photoshoot! Perfect for me to get out and keep my brain active!
Meeting with Emily & Drew in the late morning, we were lucky enough for it to be slightly cloudy. This is great for soft even light in a set of photos. We started shooting with them simply sat near their front door. Shooting with a 50mm lens. Perfect to keep back yet maintain those nice soft backdrops. Andrew wasn’t so sure of this at first, but Emily has since told me he really enjoyed it! Always great to hear!
How I got the shots while staying back…
I learned two things from this little photo shoot. The first being you can get so much from one little area. A doorway, and a small grass patch. The second, that I take better photos holding the camera out in front of me and hoping and praying! This was a trick I made to keep myself away as much as possible. The compositions I was finding were so good! This shoot was all achieved in around twenty minutes. It just goes to show what can be achieved with fewer resources. I will be trying this technique again! So pleased with them! Thank you, Emily & Drew!
